We are living during a time where practically everything else is delivered right to our doors so why not a haircut and a shave? Now wherever you are in the local area personal barber services can be arranged… visiting homes, condos, workplaces, offices, retirement homes, and clubs or community centre's! For added tradition and comfort Anthony even brings an actual barbers chair and warm shaving lather right to your location!
“I have quickly discovered going mobile to provide house calls allows me the opportunity to focus solely on you during the appointment unlike within the bustle of a loud barber shop that might either be crowded and or feel rushed. As a mobile barber I still provide the most professional service and have acquired a unique portable barber chair in addition to all the tools and products needed to provide you the complete experience of personally tailored at-home white glove barber services… All that is needed from you is a small well lit working space and access to hot water to fill my portable basin (if shaving). Additionally, I always carry what’s needed to clean up afterwards so the only evidence of me being there is your renewed dapper appearance!“

How It Started
- Anthonys’ long time family owned barber shop located in the Newmarket plaza changed hands after both his father and wife had to take a step back due to health issues. Anthony attempted to stay on and run a chair part time to provide services for his loyal walk-in clientele however after a couple of turbulent months he could no longer endorse the direction of the changeover. Anthony and family always considered their clients like friends and as such after the sale took feedback regarding the many abrupt changes to heart, making the decision it was best to walk away from the shop completely back in mid December and pivoted to accepting mobile appointments for anyone interested in receiving haircut or shave services in the comfort of their own home… literally bringing the barber chair and warm lather to you! There is now also a Newmarket located studio available for bookings one day per week! Whether mobile or in-studio, a haircut booked with Anthony recaptures the ever elusive lost art of providing great everyday, no nonsense, classic haircuts and authentic traditional barbering services for gentlemen of all ages.
How It’s Going
- Anthony has kept busy offering barbering services to existing and new clients on a mobile basis and the response has been extremely positive! Men of all ages really enjoy the house call service concept and more personalized service it provides! Most gentlemen desire convenience and consistently of always receiving a great haircut from a professional skilled barber they are comfortable with… Now even a private studio appointment can be arranged for those who prefer!
- The continued support from each and every client who continued to seek out Anthonys services before, during the transition and still today are so very much valued and appreciated! When all you want is just a good old fashioned haircut that never goes out of style, like an old friend you’re always welcome back to book with Anthony! - Anthony (Antonino) Luciano is a second generation Italian master barber, traditionally taught his skills over 30 years ago in barber school, subsequently polished by training apprenticeship led by his Father Giuseppe,‘’Joe.” Anthony is professionally licensed with a certificate of qualification by “Skilled Trades Ontario” verifiable under his full name via their public register. Due to many times providing services in elder homes as well as entering private residences daily he is fully insured, has received, and can provide copy of his most recent clear YRP vulnerable record check.

Haircuts for all ages, boys to senior age… from classic 1950’s tapers to modern, scissor style haircuts to brush cuts, gentleman's square back business cuts, flat top, crew cut, or just a light trim, and everything in between… tailored to your specific needs and requests! Some history on traditional classic barbering…The word “barber” is actually derived from the Latin word “barba”, which means beard, and the word “Tonsorial” translates to cutting, clipping or trimming of hair with shears or razors. This is why the skillful techniques and tools used in classic barbering are just as important as the experience itself… the art form requires skill, passion, and dedication to master.
Classic barbering is an art form that has stood the test of time. The tonsorial concept dates back to Roman Times combining technical skill and artistry to create a unique and enjoyable experience for clients.
Anthony has remained true to the roots of the traditional manual techniques of barbering by offering an authentic and personalized experience that cannot be replicated by a machine or a quick visit to a chain salon. His polished techniques and scissor skills have been passed down from generation to generation, and while slightly evolved with the times, they still hold true to the timeless qualities that make them so unique. - Real Barbers Use Scissors!
Before clippers there were scissors. Apparently, the first scissors were used around 3,000 to 4,000 years ago in Egypt. They were made with two bronze blades connected by a thin, curved bronze strip at the end of the blades. Squeezing the blades brought them together and releasing opened them up. This is called “spring scissor,” and it's a style still made to this day. The direct ancestor of modern-day scissors (two blades joined at a pivot) was created by the ancient Romans around 100AD and called “pivoted scissors”.
Before electric clippers they only had hand powered clippers, cousin to the scissor! The earliest form of the modern hair clipper was invented in 1855 and was manually operated.
With this, hair trimming was achieved by clamping and releasing the tool’s arms to move the blades... Just the same principle behind yes you guessed it SCISSORS!
Sadly scissors have become a forgotten tool in most modern barbershops as manual barber tools require a good amount of effort and skill to operate. Well seasoned barbers have the steadiness and technical ability to cut the top shape of a flat top precisely using only scissors and a comb! Scissors are also used to form the fundamental connection between the top and bottom of any proper medium length tapered haircut. They are used to seamlessly blend clipper work into the longer lengths of a tapered style. They are also used to trim the “wild ones” be that on the head or eyebrows.
Anthony specializes in the classic craft of barbering which includes providing seamlessly blended traditional haircuts for men, using both clippers and precision scissor work.
